Big road win for Stingrays

Saturday 00 11, 2012

Two late quickfire goals earned Excel Hull Stingrays a huge 4-3 victory at Dundee Stars in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League

Stingrays, again without leading goalscorer Jereme Tendler, fell behind in the seventh minute through Euan Forsyth but Dominic Osman levelled before the end of the first period.

Dan McGoff restored Stars’ lead only for Derek Campbell to equalise just 45 seconds later.

AJ MacLean (powerplay) put Stars in front for the third time but markers inside 49 seconds from Osman and Jason Silverthorn (short-handed) handed Stingrays only a second win on the road in 12 attempts.

Player-coach Sylvain Cloutier said: “It was a big win.

“We kept it simple, guys were crashing and banging, blocking shots and we had to kill a few penalties. We did all the little things right.

“We did nothing fancy and we stuck to the game plan. Everyone worked extremely hard, it was a great team effort.”

Stingrays take on Dundee Stars at Hull Arena in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League on Sunday February 12 (6pm face-off). Tickets can be purchased by ringing the Hull Arena Box Office on 01482 325252.
